Full-Time Surface Defence That Elevates Exterior Aesthetics - XPEL Paint Protection Film

Paint protection films are doubly as beneficial as most realize. Their self-healing, urethane construction secures your finish proactively against road hazards, scratches, stains, and more; the most common reason our customers here at Spotless Detailing seek them out. However, they can also enhance the exterior of your vehicle and the surfaces covered by them!

The XPEL products our PPF installation team applies to automobiles here in northern Scotland have a glass-like, hydrophobic surface, helping them resist contamination while looking as pristine and flawless as our Gtechniq Ceramic Coatings do as well. Not to mention, we can and often DO install a
ceramic coating over the top of our PPF packages - increasing your vehicle’s exterior protection while multiplying the surface gloss!

If you are searching for a constant defence for your vehicle’s exterior, coupled with a stunning shine that is built to last, paint protection films by XPEL are the place to start. Connect with our installation team to plan your PPF service, and ask us any questions about our products before you start.

Here Is What Our Paint Protection Films Defend Against

Swirl Marks

Surface swirl marks collect on the exterior of vehicles following rough hand washing experiences or the rigours of a public car wash. They appear across all painted surfaces as a sort of ‘spider web’ texture, and are actually small, shallow scratches in your vehicle’s clear coat.

Ultraviolet Ray Exposure

Ultraviolet rays and vehicle paint degradation go hand-in-hand, causing the luster of your vehicle’s finish to fade, along with its natural colour and other characteristic details. Also in conjunction with environmental and chemical stains, if splatters of messes remain on an unprotected vehicle surface, the sun is known to discolour the areas around the contamination, leaving a lasting mark.

Paint Stains From Contamination

Completely unprotected vehicle paint is often negatively affected by contamination that sits on it for an extended period of time. Stains will undoubtedly be left behind by bird droppings, tree sap, bug splatters, and any variety of chemical contamination that washes onto the highway here in Elgin, splashing against your exterior. Rain droplets can even cause surface etching as well.

Light Surface Scratches

This type of paint defect is more ambiguous in appearance than swirl marks. The common causes of light surface scratches in vehicle paintwork includes, but is not limited to, shopping carts in a parking lot, the belt buckle of a passerby, or falling rakes and shovels in a garage that might swipe the side of your door.

Common Questions About XPEL Clear Bras and Installation

  • Do paint protection films come pre-cut for my vehicle type?

They can, though our paint protection film packages here at Spotless Detailing generally do not. Because we see such a wide variety of automobiles at our Elgin, Scotland shop, we prefer to measure and cut your PPF as precisely as possible at the time of your appointment.

  • How long does PPF installation take?

In comparison to ceramic coating installations, which are paint protection packages hand applied in liquid form, paint protection film packages take a bit longer. This is due to the meticulous measuring, cutting, adhering, and curing steps that are required to properly install our XPEL Clear Bra products. Generally, we spend 2-4 days installing a paint protection film here at Spotless Detailing.

  • Is there a specific PPF package that your installation pros recommend?

If you commute quite a bit in your vehicle on a daily basis, it makes sense to cover your full car in our XPEL Paint Protection Films. But on average, the typical vehicle owner should at least cover their high-impact areas, such as their front bumper, front hood, and mirrors, as even an infrequent driver can experience road hazards in these areas at any given time.

  • Will I ever need to have my PPF replaced?

Paint protection films are self-healing and extremely durable. If a defect occurs, what generally happens to your finish will not happen with a PPF. However, if you were to experience true automotive body damage, where a hazard has broken through the PPF and caused a serious issue on your vehicle’s finish, that section of your clear bra will have to be replaced.
